8 Hin Kaaw

Gorgonian sea fans, sea whips, coral mounds, sponges and sea anemones. Reef life includes morays and schooling fish.

9 Hin Ton Mai

Rocky ridges with soft corals, gorgonians, anemones, feather stars and diverse marine life. Navy uses this rock for shooting practice. Beware of shells!

Year round diving with preferred conditions between November and May.

10 Submarine Rock
5-20m 10-15 Can be strong
Submarine reminiscent rocky ridge with good presence of hard corals, barrel sponges and gorgonian seafans. Marine life includes rays, turtles and medium sized reef fishes.

11 Petchburi Bremen Wreck
10-25m 3-10m Can be strong
Steel freighter sunk in the 1930's. Now acts as an artificial reef with reasonable coral coverage. Marine life includes moray eels, schools of batfish, barracudas and large stingrays.

12 Hardeep Wreck
10-30m 5-15m Can rage
Indonesian freighter sunk during WWII. Good diversity of marine life including nudibranchs, crabs, wrasse, butterflyfish, stingrays and barracudas.

13 Koh Nok
10-25m 5-15m Often strong
Black and Leather corals complemented by gorgonian seafans and barrel sponges. Reef inhabitants include angel, bat and parrotfish. Tuna and stingrays often pass by.

14 Koh Chan
5-25m 3-15m Often strong
Swim-throughs between large boulders. Small invertebrates. Barrel sponges and hard corals.

15 Pak I Wreck
20-40m+ 5-15m Can be strong
Formerly the famed Vertical Wreck. But re-sunk during 2002 after breaking the surface in shipping lanes. Still a great technical dive.

Koh Chang
Year round diving with preferred conditions between November and May.
16 Hin Rap
5-15m 5-10m Moderate
Rocky reef featuring hard corals mostly leather, black, gorgonian seafans and sea whips. Many large fish including triggerfish and schools of batfish and fusiliers. Unfortunately some dynamite fishing damage.

17 Koh Chang Wreck
10-15m 2-5m Weak to moderate
Thai war ship sunk by the French over colonial dispute during the 1930's. Small gorgonians, and black corals. Many reef fishes.

18 Koh Wai
5-15m 5-10m Weak to moderate
Submerged boulders crowned with different corals including lesser star, brain, black and whips. Reasonable diversity of marine life.

19 Koh Kradat
5-10m 5m Weak to moderate
Various hard corals including mounds, black and sea whips. Variety of small to medium sized reef fish. Good site for snorkelling.

20 Koh Gra
3-10m 5-10m Weak to moderate
Small rocky islet with nice coral gardens. Good site for snorkelling.

21 Koh Rang Pinnacles
10-25m 5-15m Moderate
High representation of black corals, gorgonian seafans and sea whips. Resident fishes include angel, snappers, fusiliers. Passing tunas and barracuda are frequent.

22 Koh Mai Si Lek
10-15m 5-10m Moderate
Various species of hard coral laminates and plates. Good site for invertebrates, including crabs, nudibranchs, shrimps and a variety of shells. Visiting pelagics such as barracudas, jacks and tunas are frequent.

Koh Tao & Koh Samui
Year round diving with preferred conditions between March and October.
23 Chumphon Pinnacles
10-30m 5-20m Can be strong
Large underwater plateaus rich in branch corals, sea whips and barrel sponges.
Exceptional presence of reef inhabitants and pelagic visitors. Frequent whale shark encounters.

24 Hin Wong
10-20m 5-10m Occasional
Large granite boulders with many coral species. Many seafans and black corals. Good selection of reef fishes, crabs, shells and shrimps.

25 Nang Yuan
10-20m 5-25m Weak
These three islets offer numerous dive sites with different rocky formations and a variety of swim-throughs. Various species of hard and soft corals frequented by groupers, stingrays, clownfish, squids, morays and many others.

26 White Rock
5-20m 5-10m Can be strong Two enormous boulders covered in white leather corals. Home to the terror of Koh Tao, 'Trevor' the triggerfish. Beautiful soft corals, gorgonians and wire coral, sea kraits, turtles, morays and invertebrates.

27 Shark Island-Red Rock
5-20m 5-10m Weak to strong
Steep sloping hard coral reef with plenty of marine life. Reef life highlights are angel fish, sea kraits, triggerfish, turtles, reef and Leopard sharks and the occasional Whale shark.

28 South West Pinnacles
5-30m 10-20m Can be strong Submerged mounds punctuated by sea anemones, sponges and hard corals. Fish life includes barracudas, fusiliers, snappers, stingrays and leopard sharks.


29 Sail Rock-Hin Bai
10-30m 5-20m Weak to strong
Great wall dive around towering pinnacles. Vertical swim-through: ‘The Chimney'. Black bushy and branch corals. Good presence of reef life as well as many large visiting pelagics including whale sharks and manta rays.

30 Ang Thong Marine National Park
5-20m 5-20m Weak to strong
Group of around fifty islands, islets and outcroppings with healthy corals and good diversity of marine life. Protected sites ideal for all levels of divers.

Good reef displaying a healthy variety of hard corals and marine life. Angel, banner and butterflyfish, cobia and nudibranchs are all well represented.

32 Ao Bo Thong Lang
0-12m 3-14m Minimal
Shore dive around hard coral boulders and rocky outcrops. Marine life includes, box and butterfly and clownfish, cobia, snappers, trevally, turtles and rays.

33 Koh Talu

Hard coral reef. With good selection of sting rays, turtles, queen fish, wrasse and blennies.

Limestone wall with anemone outcrops on the South side and coral reef on the north. Box, clown and porcupine fish mix with a variety of stingrays.

Rocky drop-offs with swim-throughs. Variety of hard and soft corals. Parrotfish, juvenile barracudas, nudibranchs, and hawksbill turtles.

40 Koh Ngam Noi

Good diversity of hard corals. Marine life of all sizes including nudibranchs, black banded sea kraits, fusiliers, turtles and barracudas.

43 Hin Daeng
5-40m+ 10-40m Full range
Large rocky area with steep slopes and sheer walls. Red soft corals give the site it's name. Marine life includes needlefish, barracudas, fusiliers, rays, turtles. Sharks include leopard, grey reef and the occasional whale shark. Plenty of small invertebrates.

44 Hin Muang
10-40m+ 15-30m Full range
Two hundred metre long submerged craggy plateau crowned in purple soft corals; the namesake of this site. Large sea fans and anemones, grey reef sharks, school of jacks. Can be good for whale sharks and mantas.

45 Koh Ha Yai
10-30m 10-25m Can be strong
Group of rocky karsts one with underwater cave featuring a huge inner cathedral. Hard and soft corals with good marine life including sea whips and fans, large rays, turtles and leopard sharks. Night diving outside cave is particularly good.

Koh Phi Phi
Year round diving with preferred conditions between October and May. Sites also visited from Krabi and Phuket.

46 Koh Bida Nok

Large boulders with small caverns. Gorgonian sea fans, wire corals and Sea whips, anemones, anemone fish and small invertebrates.

47 Koh Phi Phi Ley-Maya Bay
15-25m 5-15m Can be strong
Variety of hard and soft corals adorning walls, pinnacles and large boulders. Many sea whips and anemones. Bannerfish, cuttlefish, Moorish idols, wrasse, starfish and sea urchins.

48 Koh Phi Phi Ley-Losamah Bay
15-20m 5-15m Can be strong
Good night dive site. Different species of hard and soft corals. Marine life includes pairs of blue ringed angelfish.

49 Koh Phi Phi Don-Nui Bay
6-25m 5-15m Sheltered area
Good wall dive. Hard and soft corals and colourful feather stars. Many bat, angel, scorpion, squirrel and trumpet fish. Great for macro photography.

Koh Phuket
Year round diving with preferred conditions between October and May.

50 Koh Racha Noi
10-30m 15-25m Weak to strong
Large pinnacle with small wreck off the north east end. Good hard and soft corals. Marine life includes angel and butterfly, parrot, puffer and triggerfish. Larger visitors can include manta rays.

51 Hin Racha Yai
5-30m 10-20m Minimal
Suitable for all levels of diver. Mainly Staghorn corals with good representation of marine life, particularly reef fish, crinoids, cuttlefish, octopus and juvenile barracuda.

52 Koh Dok Mai
15-30m 10-12 Weak to moderate
Hard and soft coral reef on sloping wall. There is a small cave but entering is not recommended, especially in current. Marine life includes leopard, black and white-tip reef sharks and turtles.

53 Shark Point-Hin Musang

Series of boulders, the larger of which breaks the surface. Excellent coverage of both hard and soft corals. Leopard sharks, angel and butterfly fish, morays, pipefish, snappers, fusiliers and a wealth of invertebrates including selection of cowrie shells.

54 Anemone Reef
10-27m 5-15m Weak to strong
Submerged pinnacles home to good diversity of marine life. Large gorgonian seafans. As name implies, sea
anemones! Also lionfish, morays and schools of medium sized pelagics.

55 King Cruiser Car Ferry
10-32m 5-25m Can be very strong
Interesting artificial reef. Penetration not recommended. Numerous species of invertebrates and schools of juvenile fish.

Krabi
Year round diving with preferred conditions between October and May.

56 Koh Haa
12-22m 5-15m Moderate to strong
Small rocky karst with hues of soft corals in different colours. Good location for tiny reef creatures and the occasional leopard shark.

57 Koh See
10-20m 5-22m Moderate to strong
Good diversity of hard and soft corals. Triggerfish, black-tip reef and leopard sharks.

58 Koh Ya Wa
3-10m 5-18m Can be strong
Large archway. Series of boulders with carpets of anemones and host anemonefish. Shrimp enthusiasts will enjoy the variety found here.

59 Hin Bia Rhlua
5-16m 5-15m Weak to moderate
Variety of swim-throughs with varying widths. Colourful soft corals and varied reef fish including snappers, trigger, angels and butterfly fish. Good site for nudibranchs.

60 Koh Mae Urai
10-16m 5-18m Weak to moderate
Two tunnel swim-throughs. Pufferfish, lionfish and scorpionfish. Numerous areas of sea anemones with a variety of symbiotic hosts.

Mu Koh Similan Marine National Park
Diving is possible year round, but is best between October and May. The Park is visited as Liveaboard excursions from Phuket and day trips from Khao Lak.

Popular dusk dive. Extensive coral gardens with large tables of branching corals. Also numerous gorgonian seafans and whips. Oriental sweetlips, snappers and fusiliers.

62 South East Point

Boulders with archways, caves and ledges. Corals include fire, table staghorns and gorgonian seafans. Leopard sharks, stingrays, lionfish, tunas, barracudas, groupers and surgeonfish.

63 Shark Fin Reef-Hin Phae
10-40m 20-30m Slight to strong
Submerged shelf of geometrically shaped boulders. Corals include acropora, dendrophyllia and gorgonian seafans in the deeper waters. Reef and whale sharks, stingrays and Napoleon wrasse.

64 Bird Rock
15-40m 15-25m Slight to strong Steep ridge with many large sea fans. Marine life includes turtles, triggerfish and leopard sharks in the depths.

Series of elevated undersea plateaus. Sporadic coral coverage frequented by large reef fish and pelagics. Resident sharks include silvertips and tawny nurse sharks.

86 Western Rocky

Tunnels, caves and walls. Great site with healthy coverage of both hard and soft corals. A high diversity of marine life of all sizes form minute invertebrates up to whale sharks.

87 High Rock
5-20m 5-10m Can rage
Hard and soft corals. Although visibility is usually low there is plenty of small creatures to see including seahorses, pipefish, shells and nudibranchs. The variety of tiny crabs and shrimps is also extraordinarily high

88 Three Islets-Three Stooges-
Bishops Fancy

5-30m 5-20m Sheltered areas
Top site with everything, swim-throughs, reefs, boulders and walls. Corals include hard and soft species. Main attraction here are grey reef sharks and an endless supply of invertebrates and small critters. Photographers nightmare as simply too much to choose from.

89 North & South Twin Islands
12-28m 5-20m Sheltered areas
Large boulders and extensive coral slopes of hard and soft corals. The former island is favoured for selection of nudibranchs and small creatures.

90 Black Rock
12-38m 10-30m Sheltered areas
This solitary rocky outcrop acts as a magnet for pelagics including eagle rays and mantas. The abundance of marine life around the steep reefs and walls includes grey reef, black-tip and bull sharks, snappers and fusiliers. On a smaller scale is a host of invertebrates.
